Media plays automatically
Sound that starts on its own is one of the most disruptive failures, and it fights with a screen reader.
The markup we quote
<video autoplay src="/intro.mp4"></video>
Every finding quotes the exact markup responsible, so you can confirm it by viewing the page source — you never have to take our word for it.
How to fix it
- Remove
autoplay, or addmutedso nothing is heard until the visitor asks for it. - Autoplaying sound is a barrier for screen reader users, who cannot hear their own software over it.
When we might be wrong
We flag the attribute in the markup. What actually plays depends on the browser and the media itself.

If the finding is wrong, tell us with the page and the line. A wrong finding costs more trust than a missing one, and it is the defect we treat as urgent.
