Page language is not declared
Without <html lang="..."> a screen reader may read the page in the wrong language, which sounds like nonsense.
The markup we quote
<html>
Every finding quotes the exact markup responsible, so you can confirm it by viewing the page source — you never have to take our word for it.
How to fix it
- Add
lang="en"(or the right language) to the<html>tag; in WordPress this comes from Settings → General → Site Language, so check that first. - If the theme hard-codes the opening tag, the theme's header template or its functions file is where it belongs.
When we might be wrong
We check that the attribute is present. We do not validate the language tag itself.

If the finding is wrong, tell us with the page and the line. A wrong finding costs more trust than a missing one, and it is the defect we treat as urgent.
