The markup we quote
<img src="/uploads/IMG_2043.jpg" alt="IMG_2043.jpg">
Every finding quotes the exact markup responsible, so you can confirm it by viewing the page source — you never have to take our word for it.
How to fix it
- Replace the file name with a description of what the image is for on this page.
- WordPress often fills alt text from the file name when an image is uploaded; if your media library is full of
IMG_####, the fix is in the media item, once per image, and it applies everywhere the image is used.
When we might be wrong
An image whose subject genuinely is a file name — a screenshot of a filename, for instance — would be a false positive here. Tell us and we will look.
