Image button has no alt text
An <input type="image"> is a button. Without alt text it is announced as an unlabelled button.
The markup we quote
<input type="image" src="/search.png">
Every finding quotes the exact markup responsible, so you can confirm it by viewing the page source — you never have to take our word for it.
How to fix it
- Add an alt attribute that describes the action, for example
alt="Search". - Image buttons are usually produced by old theme code or a search widget.
When we might be wrong
We check the markup as written; a button styled with an image background is a different case and not reported here.

If the finding is wrong, tell us with the page and the line. A wrong finding costs more trust than a missing one, and it is the defect we treat as urgent.
