Link with no accessible name
A link that contains only an icon or empty markup is announced as "link" with nothing else, so nobody using a screen reader knows where it goes.
The markup we quote
<a href="/contact/"><img src="/icons/mail.svg"></a>
Every finding quotes the exact markup responsible, so you can confirm it by viewing the page source — you never have to take our word for it.
How to fix it
- Add text, an
aria-labelon the link, or real alt text on the image inside it — one of the three. - Icon links in menu blocks or social-link widgets are the usual culprits: the field for the label is in the block's settings or in the widget.
When we might be wrong
A link whose only content is an image that itself has no alt text produces one finding, not two: we report the link, because that is the thing to fix.

If the finding is wrong, tell us with the page and the line. A wrong finding costs more trust than a missing one, and it is the defect we treat as urgent.
